by Rob Daniels

As you learn more about Pilates you will find that it is designed for each person's body. With Pilates method as their guide and building block, today's teachers tailor regimens to fit a client's individual needs.

As Pilates himself was an innovater, so are the new teachers, shaping the fundamental principles with their own unique skills. The first generation of instructors combined Pilates' principles with their own interpretations and knowledge gathered from others. Some went so far as to create their own Pilates-based or inspired program. All of a sudden, everybody seemed to be compelled to "create" their own Pilates equipment.

Today, there are several different schools of technique that incorporate the basic essential principles of Pilates. There are now fourth and fifth generation practioners teaching the Pilates method. Millions of people are familiar with the Pilates method of exercise.

Today Pilate's exercises today are generally taught in small groups with a qualified instructor. Now millions of people are familiar with the Pilates method of exercise.

Pilates vs Yoga

The biggest difference is that Pilates uses a line of equipment that does not exist in yoga. But the theory of mind-body connection exists in both Yoga and Pilates. They also share a fluidity of movement.

The Pilates Method of body conditioning promotes physical harmony and balance for people of all ages and physical conditions while providing a refreshing and energizing workout.
